All About Colored Contact Lenses and Free Samples

Tinted lenses come in three basic kinds. They are enhancement tints visibility tints and opaque tints. The visibility tint kind is generally a lighter blue or green shade added to a contact, solely to help it be seen during insertion and removing, or if you misplace it. Since it is a very light tint, it doesn't impact the color of eyes. It just makes it easy to see when you are putting them in, take them out or if you drop one on the floor or something.

An enhancement tint, as the name implies, enhances the eye color with a deeper, but still semi-transparent tint that has more depth of color than the visibility tint. The enhancement tint can alter your eye color . The enhancement tint is meant to enrich the existing color of your eyes. Enhancement lenses usually are best for people who have pale hued eyes and want to make their eye color more intense.

Lastly, opaque color tint contact lenses are stronger tints that will transform the color of eyes completely. This kind of cosmetic contact lenses are normally produced in solid colors. For those who have dark eyes now, you need this kind of opaque contact lens to change your eye coloring. Typically color contacts come in a wide variety of colors, like brown, green, blue, purple, amethyst and gray.

People who don't need their eyes corrected and only like them for fashion purposes are the target for colored contacts with no prescription. To get the correct contacts, those with eye problems must get a prescription from their doctors. As much as it concerns people to look good, they should also think about their health.

Although the hustle of getting a prescription has been made easy with the availability of colored contact without prescription, individuals should be cautious with the quality of the lenses they go for as there are those made of bad quality and can be harmful to the eyes. It's important to choose a reputable dealer. Most dealers are reputable and work with the lens manufacturers. One who is interested in getting colored contacts without a prescription should perform simple research to avoid exposing themselves to fake products.

Lady Gaga Contact Lenses Still Wreaking Havoc

Here's another news story we found about these round / circle contact lenses (also called "doe-eyed" contact lenses) that Lady Gaga wore in one of her videos along with a pretty scary quote from an optometrist about how bad they could be for your eyes:
Illegal contacts sold at local stores (www.wavy.com)
Dr. David Tang, an optometrist with Beach Eye Care, said the scary look can be down right frightening for your eyes.

"Corneal ulcers, which if not treated early enough, can lead to internal infections. We also see corneal scarring which can lead to permanent vision loss and possibly blindness, corneal swelling or what we call edema which is depriving the cornea of oxygen and corneal abrasions which are small cuts," said Dr. Tang.
It's true that the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has classified all contact lenses - even special effect contacts that do not provide any vision correction - as medical devices. Violation of this is a class 1 misdemeanor.

Keep this story in mind when Halloween rolls around, parents. Kids will be finding these more often and damaging eye tissue is not really something that sounds like a treat.

Non Prescription Colored Contacts - Is It Possible?

Non Prescription Colored Contacts

As colored contact lenses become more and more popular amongst women and men, people are starting to change their eye color like they change clothes. Non prescription colored contacts have become an everyday accessory to compliment a person's style or new appearance. Because there is a wide variety of color contacts, you can find just about any color you desire. When it comes to color contact lenses, there are two types to consider.

Enhancement lenses are color contacts that simply enhance your natural eye color. These are normally used by individuals with light color eyes to darken their natural eye color or intensify it. However, individuals with darker color eyes can also find enhancement lenses for their eyes as well. Then you have the color tints such as opaque lenses which change your eye color completely. They can come with special effects and other features such as glowing in the dark.

Color contacts can be worn with vision correction or not. Does this mean that you don't have to have a prescription for them. To be honest, there are thousands of companies selling colored lenses to individuals without a prescription. Their clients probably have vision problems now, but you can certainly buy color lenses without a prescription. As for the law, it is illegal to buy them without a prescription in the countries of UK, US, and Canada. You have a choice as to which one you feel is the best decision for you.

Before making a decision, you should know that many people who obtain their lenses without a prescription often suffer from blurred vision, itching, dry eyes, eye redness and swelling, and other things as well. Some people have even went from perfect vision to poor vision. This happens when you don't obtain a prescription from your eye doctor. You put yourself at risk for all sorts of future problems with your eyes. Make healthy choices for your eyes. They will thank you later!

If you were thinking about picking up a pair of Halloween, special effect colored contact lenses at the Halloween costume store or the beauty salon, think again. But not only are they illegal, they can permanently damage your eyes and even make you go blind, said Dr. Elliott H. Myrowitz, an assistant professor and chief of Optometric Services at the Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute. He's joining a chorus of doctors, organizations and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in warning consumers off these products.
What are popular right now are circle contact lenses along with Halloween contact lenses. To wear them safely, you should first see an eye care professional, get a prescription and then order them from a name brand company that does not use cheap paint. When you wear them, only wear them during the day and take them out at night. Your eyes might have to first get used to them and you should start off just wearing them a few hours a day. Of course, never share your contact lenses with anyone else either.
